Mario Unleashed: Four high school students replay the Mario theme tunes on the marimba.
American Edit: A guy has remixed Green Day’s American Idiot with a lot of other tracks and produced this album. I’ve only listened to one of the songs, Dr. Who on Holiday, but it’s fantastic.
I reckon I should be using passwords like this but I can’t imagine having to learn ones that long. 😯

Superman Returns teaser trailer: I’m a bit late on that one as it was released last week. I’ve been keeping up with Bryan Singer’s production diaries and it’s nice to get that type of insight as the film is being made.

Last Thursday was the 2005 Net Visionary Awards in Clontarf Castle. My boss was nominated in the eGovernment category for our site dublin.ie Unfortunately he didn’t win but we did have a great night out. I got to meet a couple of people who I’ve only talked to on the phone so it was nice. Michele runs down the winners in this post. Next year I’d like to win one of them as the new site will be live by then. It’s a tough job though as the competition is excellent.

This is one of those catch all posts cos I’m struggling to be coherant today. Still have yet to shift this cold/flu that I have. One thing you do notice though is the amount of people who have it. I’m convinced I can spread the virus by phone after Mark got sick just by talking to me.

BTW, the title of this post is inspired by the shots taken by sam javanrouh at an open air pillowfight in Toronto. Looks like fantastic fun. 🙂

In blogosphere news, Google Analytics has been launched. Anyone who knew that Google acquired webstats firm, Urchin, a few months ago would have anticipated this but it appears as if they jumped the gun on the launch. For the first few hours the site would go down/stop logins for hours and it’s still “waiting” to process data from this site. I used the Google Analyticator plugin mentioned by Conall to do it automatically. I’ve got dublin.ie plugged into it too as we bought an Urchin 5 license before Google bought them. I’ll report further when I know what it’s like.

I completely agree with Brian O’Neill about Web 2.0 and what the user wants. I’ll elaborate further again but I wanted to add my support to his comments.

Splashed out on a few DVDs and CDs today:

Titanic Deluxe Collector’s Edition: I’ve always been fascinated with Titanic and the film, although soppy and girly in parts was very good overall. This 4 disc set has extras in abundance and I’ll look forward to viewing them all over the next few weeks.
Des Bishop Live: I’m a big fan of Des’ comedy and this DVD features his show from Vicar St last year along with extras such as an early stand-up routine and his Late Late Show Appearance.
The Revs: Based on positive reviews I’ve been reading I decided to buy the new album from this Irish rock band. They’ve been around a while but this album is supposed to be the making of them.
Gift Grub 6 – The Special One: Although I don’t listen to the radio in the morning, I love Mario Rosenstock’s impressions of celebrities in the Gift Grub segment on Ian Dempsey’s Breakfast Show. There’s a few samples on their site too. This CD is the best of 2005 and his impression of Jose Mourinho is fantastic.

It’s that time again 🙂

Photos of Europe’s gorgeous, ancient sewers: I had to wait a while to access this as they exceeded their bandwidth right after it was mentioned on BoingBoing.
My mate John linked to info on Berkeley Pit in Montana which is an abandonded copper mine. Since it was abandonded water has been building up in it but the water is highly acidic and killed 342 migrating swans in 1995. 😯
eBaum’s World sucks: Eric Bauman steals people’s content and passes it off as his own. Fantastic little flash video explaining how which also has a really catchy song.
Simply Geeky and Tom have great entries on the new Windows Live and Office Live. It looks like Microsoft have finally woken up to rich online applications. Hotmail certainly isn’t one.
Michele mentioned a new theme browser for WordPress. It’s quite a nifty tool and lets you browse the extensive listings really easily.
Dave has started a Frappr map of where his visitors are from. I reckon the majority of mine would be my mates etc so would be mostly Ireland. If you’re from elsewhere, leave a comment! 🙂
The new King Kong trailer was released last week and Dave does some great analysis on it. Personally I can’t wait for it and will be booking decent tickets well in advance.
Michael links to a site I saw somewhere else about the sea-forts used as anti-aircraft platforms during WWII. They were even used by a pirate radio station at one stage.

Presidential Speechalist

I never saw this at the time but Comedy Central did a skit for 2004’s Last Laugh program starring Andy Dick as President Bush’s Speechalist. Normally I can’t stand that bloke but this is genuinely funny.
