Interesting presentation from Mark to the Institute of International and European Affairs on the future of news as he sees it. I’m going to be watching how he tries to develop a filter for news in the social media era as I believe it to be the most complex challenge for news. Assigning weight to certain producers of content, as Mark suggests, can lead to stagnation of sources unless rising stars (who have yet to attain the overall necessary “worth”) are included. I would think it’s going to be quite a labour intensive process but Mark mentions a number of different agencies who are working on it.
