Picked up tickets online for Arcade Fire in the Phoenix Park this October. They went on sale at about 9.05 and were sold out by 9.20. Not sure of exactly how many tickets went on sale but to sell out that fast is impressive.

Arcade Fire to play Phoenix Park
October 24th apparently. Gonna be cold but I hope to be there. Ian has the scoop.
Lili Forberg has some great photos from Oxegen. These are the backstage ones and here’s Arcade Fire, Avril Lavigne, Bloc Party, Interpol, Kings of Leon , The Kooks, Maximo Park and lastly the fantastic Muse.
Well, Oxegen 2007 has been and gone. Memories from the weekend are as follows:
- Getting a good camping spot which wasn’t too far from the main arena and the car park. There weren’t any scumbags camped close to us thankfully.
- Setting up about 5 tents cos these lads arrived who were clueless and kept putting them up arseways. They gave me beer.
- Ice creams for breakfast on the Saturday morning cos we didn’t want to pay €10 for a breakfast roll.
- Dar getting the nickname ‘Tim Wheeler’ from the Northern Lads who lived behind our tent.
- Fish tent: Basically a tent with fish on it that was set up close to us. Tremendously handy when your trying to locate your own tent.
- Elaine bringing us breakfast rolls on Sunday morning when we hadn’t even got out of bed. 🙂
- People climbing the flagpoles that were in front of the main stage on Saturday. They promptly removed them for Sunday.
- Mud, mud and more mud: Due to all the rain in the lead up to the weekend the campsite was in a right state. The venue itself was OK on Saturday but by Sunday it was in bits too. Thank God for wellies.
Musically the highlights were Editors (always brilliant), Muse (was in the pit for them, probably the best live performance I’ve ever seen), Kharma 45, James Morrison, Arcade Fire, Razorlight, The Killers, Delorentos and The Goo Goo Dolls. My photees are here and I’ve embedded a video I recorded at Muse in the full post:
Was due to go to Justin Timberlake in Vicar St on Saturday night. Well, I thought it was Saturday night anyway. The media outlets like RTE were reporting the gig as taking place in the early hours of Sunday but looking at the ticket it said ‘Sunday – Doors Open Midnight’. So myself and Helen turned up at the venue on Saturday night but it looked very dark. There were about 20 people hanging around waiting for something to happen. We got chatting to a guy whose cousin ran the venue so he gave him a call only to find out the gig was due to happen the next night.
I got a phone call from Ticketmaster the next morning saying the gig was cancelled because of ‘technical issues’. They offered free entry to the gig in the RDS that night and a full refund. Can’t say fairer than that but I was disappointed at not getting to see the club show in Vicar St (it only holds a thousand people). So, myself and Helen made our way out to the RDS last night and weren’t disappointed. Still, I can’t help but wonder what happened with Vicar St. I’ve included the end of Lovestoned in the full post:
