Aidan’s Birthday in Kerry

Well last weekend myself and my mate John toddled off down to Kerry to see Aidan for his birthday. I wasn’t feeling too well last week so I only booked the train tickets the day before and had to book first class. “Had to book” sounds like it was a hardship but there was plenty of legroom. 🙂 The train left Dublin bang on 8.30am and arrived at Killinary station dead on midday where Aidan picked us up for the drive out to his place. He lives pretty close to Waterville but the location is pretty remote and there’s no mobile phone reception (for my network anyway). 🙁

Saturday was spent playing Monkey Ball and some of the other GameCube games I brought. We also got to mess about with Aidan’s bow and arrow that he bought after our trip to Trabolgan a couple of years ago. Tony in Legolas mode I wasn’t too bad but Aidan hit the target pretty much every shot but I suppose he has the time and space to practice down there. We went out on Saturday night to Waterville for food and then to the local nightclub which was great craic. Aidan and John were quite drunk and we got a lift home from Eoin (Aidan’s best mate) getting in at bout 4. When the door was opened John went and fell straight in onto the floor of the patio. He then proceeded to try and sleep there but eventually, after phone calls and falling about, we all went to bed. Sunday was much of the same and then we came back on the Monday arriving back in Dublin about 5.

Friday at the Inter

Popped in to the International last night to catch up with a few of the people I met at the meetup last week. Unfortunately there wasn’t a large crowd but the atmosphere was still quite good for the amount that were there. The comedians on were:

  • Jarlaith Regan: Started off with some cheesey jokes and had a nice conversational style. Some of his delivery reminded me of Jimmy Carr but overall it was a decent set.
  • Bernard O’Shea: Have seen this guy a couple of times now and was impressed by the new material he was doing. Thought his Nescafe/Walnut Whip routine was excellent. 😆
  • Tommy Nicholson: Top of the bill was Tommy Nicholson, the man from Navan. I had heard quite a bit about Tommy since he’s been supporting Des Bishop at Vicar Street and is at regular at the Inter. I’d say Tommy is a naturally comedic man and his set was very good.

Aidan Bishop was hosting and I think that he’s learning his trade and has improved since I last saw him. Overall a night well spent and I’ll be going badk to the Inter a lot more over the coming months.

The Goonies are back!

Received my replacement copy of the Goonies from Play.com today. The original was missing content like the commentaries and a documentary and had been a widespread problem with the first batch that was produced. It had originally shipped from Play in August sometime but I had been procrastinating about sending it back. 😯 Eventually I sent it back and the replacement seems to be working just fine.

Weeks Three, Four and Five

Can’t believe it’s been this long since I’ve posted in the Roaccutane category but the past few weeks have been good if not great. My lips get very dry every few hours and I need to use the Blistex on them but they aren’t a real hardship at all. My skin is very dry and is noticeable in the corners of my face so I’m using the Dermacare moisturiser on it twice a day still. A rash on both of my hands has developed over the past two weeks so I’m booking an appointment with the doctor tomorrow for Wednesday. It’s a bright red rash on the backs of my hands but I’ve done a search on the web and other people have got similiar side affects from taking Accutane. I’ve noticied a change in my back in that it seems to be healing quite well at the moment. More updates at the end of this week.
