Apparently the worst kept secret on the net has been confirmed and Yahoo! has bought Flickr. Neil links to a post by Jeremy Zawodny who works for Yahoo! giving his thoughts on the announcement. For those uninitiated with Flickr, its a photo sharing service where you can store large amounts of photos and easily tag/organise and share ’em. I’d be wary of Yahoo’s motives as they seem to have mauled Geocities when they bought them but I’m not an expert on the area. Heres hoping that Flickr will still retain the nice sense of community and ease of use I’ve become accustomed to. 🙂

Paddy’s Day
Well it’s the obligatory Paddy’s Day post tonight. The country will be drowning the Shamrock in copious amounts of Guinness with the rest of the world joining in. For me its a different sort of day as I’m off the booze and that really has an affect on what you can do. I was going to go into the city to take a few photos but decided against it due to how hard it is to get around on public transport. Anyway, I’m in work tomorrow for a few hours so I’m going to chill and watch Spellbound which I bought on DVD last week. Have a good one. 🙂
Brian O’Driscoll
The title of the post probably doesn’t make much sense but Brian O’Driscoll is the captain of the Irish rugby team who unfortuneatly lost to France last weekend in the Six Nations. I’m not a hardcore rugby fan but I’d sit down and watch a game but have to admit that France were the better side on the day. The reason for making Brian’s name the title of this post was a running joke myself, Mark and Dave had in the pub on Saturday night. There was a guy sitting next to us who looked like Brian so whenever he passed our table we’d say “Brrrriiiiaaannnnnnn O’Driscoll”. I don’t think he noticied but it was pretty funny to us at the time. 🙂
As I mentioned I was in the pub with Mark and Dave on Saturday night for a while. We only went down for a couple of hours as myself and Dave are off the booze at the moment. Mark and Dave hadn’t seen each other in about a month and a half because they are on opposite ends of shift work. It was good to see the lads anyway and catch up with whats going on. Myself and Mark are planning to go to Spain in August as my uncle owns an apartment near Alicante in Spain. It’ll just be for ten days or so but the break’ll do us good. Apart from that I finished off my cousin’s new PC on Saturday and have been meaning to tidy my room as well.
Rotoath Harps Vs Dunboyne AFC
Here’s the report I filed with the club web sitea about the Ratoath game yesterday:
The Dunboyne Under 14 D’s turned in a great performance in this local derby against Rotoath Harps. Dunboyne were boosted by the return to the team of a number of players and were resolute in their will to fight for the ball in all areas of the pitch. Chances were sparse in the game with most of the action taking place in midfield for the majority of the first half. In the second half Dunboyne’s defense battled well to keep Rotoath at bay on a number of occasions with Conor O’Shea (Man of the Match) and Alan Cosgrave making numerous key interceptions and challenges.
Dunboyne eventually made the breakthrough when Darren Jordan was put through on goal and drilled a low shot under the keeper. After that Dunboyne soaked up the pressure as Roatoath pushed for an equaliser. It came twenty minutes from the end as a break down the right exposed the defense and a low shot beat James Duffy who had done well to keep them at bay beforehand. Dunboyne nearly stole all three points when Colm Darcy’s right foot shot dropped just wide but overall a draw was a fair result for both teams in what was a great local derby. The team continue to get better and hope to continue the improvement next week against Huntstownvilla.
Overall I was impressed with their attitude yesterday. I’m desperately trying to get them to act as a team but its tough when some of them play two and three sports which dillutes their sense of unity with our team specifically. Hopefully this is the start of the turn-around anyway as I haven’t been filing reports about ten-nil drubbings away.
