Fair play to Liverpool, they were worthy champions last night. 🙂 I’m a die-hard United fan but it was nice to see an English team win it and with style. For those who don’t have a clue what I’m talking about then you need to read this. It was a superb second half display and proved that you can never really write off your chances even if you are 3-0 down. I watched it down in Kenny’s with Mark and Dave who haven’t seen each other in a while due to the fact that they’re on opposite ends of shift work. 🙄 Sort it out lads.

BBC Online is carrying a story about how the Crazy Frog – AxelF remix single is headed for number one this weekend. It’s selling faster than Coldplay’s “Speed of Sound” but, to be honest, I don’t know anyone who buys singles anymore. Maybe it’s because most of my friends are tech savvy and know where to find them online but haven’t single sales been diminishing for years? If you sell a few thousand copies then you can get to “Number 1” these days, but is that really a chart topper in the purest sense? I don’t think so. Apparently the charts are now taking into account sales made on sites like iTunes but I don’t think that makes a difference as a lot of people will just use P2P to grab a track.
School Bus Tragedy
Bad news greeted me on the news when I got home from work this evening. Five school girls were killed in a school bus accident in Navan at 4.30pm this afternoon. Approximately 50 kids and a driver were on the bus at the time which turned over into a ditch close to Navan in County Meath. Six kids are in a serious condition in hospital at the moment. 🙁 It’s a tragedy beyond belief for the parents and my heart goes out to them. The circumstances of the accident aren’t known as yet but three seperate investigations are underway this evening.
A weekend wasted?
Have to admit to not doing much this weekend. Friday evening was spent playing football and feeling lousy after it. Scored some good goals but it was four of us versus five other lads and I did more running than I should have done considering I’m only just after a bad dose of phleningitis (or something like that). Yesterday I went down to the pub with Dave to watch the Man Utd vs Arsenal FA Cup Final. The game was dominated by United who had about 15 chances during the game but just couldn’t score. For the first time in history, the cup was decided by penalties and, as I predicted, Arsenal won when Lehmann saved from Scholes. Really pissed off considering Arsenal did nothing to deserve it. 👿
In the evening I went up to see Mark’s new Renault Megane. It’s a silver/gray (we couldn’t decide), 2001 model and seems rather cool. He needs to get insured before he can drive it but we mentioned sorting out a couple of day trips over the next few months. 🙂 After inspecting the car we decided to go down to the village for a while to a pub called O’Neills which has a disco-bar at the back. When we were walking in the bouncer asked us for I.D. but, of course, we weren’t carrying any. 😐 Anyway, we got turned away so stopped in to Kenny’s. While there we watched the Eurovision Song Content which was laughable considering the fact that most of the countries voted for their neighbours. Plus the fact that the tallying went on for what seemed like an eternity. 🙄
Today I’ve re-arranged a bit of the content on the site and deleted folders which had become redundant. There’s no visible changes up front but it’s been something I’ve wanted to get done for a while. I feel like I still have tons to do but I just have to get my life in order first for everything to fall into place. 😐 Ironically, I’ve been watching the first few episodes of Lost which, by the looks of it, is going to be excellent.
Musical Meme
Via Neil who got it from HicksDesign:
Total volume of music files on my computer: 24.2Gb. Man, I didn’t think I had that much music!
The last CD I bought was: Ocean’s 12 OST. I believe the film is pretty bad but the music is excellent and was put together by David Holmes.
Song playing right now: “Feel Good Inc” by Gorillaz. Like the way it fuses a couple of different styles together. Must pick up their album.
Five songs I listen to a lot, or that mean a lot to me:
- Acker Bilk – Stranger on the Shore: It was one of my uncle’s favourite songs until he died. Always reminds me of him.
- The Beach Boys – God Only Knows: One of the best pop songs in history.
- The Eagles – Desperado: Fantastic tune and one which I’ll probably never forget.
- John Mayer – St. Patrick’s Day: Big fan of John Mayer’s songs and this is one of the best.
- Coldplay – Parachutes: The title track from their debut album is just 46 seconds long but strikes a note with me every time I hear it.
