The 40 Year Old Virgin

The 40 Year Old Virgin Was really looking forward to this one and I wasn’t disappointed. Most people won’t be familiar with Steve Carell who has had smaller parts in a number of Brat Pack comedies over the past couple of years. This is his first major role and he also produces the film.

The story is pretty self explanatory in that Steve plays Andy Stitzer, a bit of a geek who collects action figures and works at an electronics store. The film tracks his attempts to get laid and it manages to balance the funny set pieces with lighter material based around a burgeoning romance. There were some real belly laugh moments and if you don’t come out of the cinema smiling then there’s something seriously wrong with you. Best comedy of the year so far. 🙂

Tony’s Verdict: 8/10

16 Days

Sixteen days without a post is pretty pathetic. In my defense:

  • I’ve been really busy with work. So much stuff going on that I’ll be able to talk about when it’s ready for launch. That’s if it ever is ready. 👿
  • I was away in Spain from the 18th to the 26th. One whole week without internet access of any kind. I sort of enjoyed it in one way. 😕 😆 The photos will be up shortly and there’ll be a full blog post about it then.
  • I now have a backlog of stuff that I need to get sorted out. As anyone who knows me will atest, I’m a pretty bad procrastinator but the list just keeps getting longer so I need to deal with it.
  • Plus women are wrecking my head at the moment. I’ll understand quantum physics before I figure out what the hell is going on in their brains.

More soon. 🙂

Google – don’t search for us

I’ve been reading about a bizarre story about how Google have refused to talk to CNet for the next year because they wrote an article containing information on Google’s Chief Executive, Eric E. Schmidt. Basically CNet writer, Elinor Mills, used Google itself to find out public information about him which she then published as part of an article on the amount of data Google collects. Now Google have decided not to talk to CNet. 😕 CNet have since published a funny apology.😆
