Had a great weekend all round. Dave’s birthday was on Thursday and we went for a few drinks in Leixlip the next night to mark the occasion. Hugh Shine, a mate we haven’t seen since Oxegen, turned up so a great night was had by all, especially Dave who was dying of a hangover the next day. 😛 Saturday night I went to karting in Santry with Aido, Ash, Roisin and Mark. Myself and Mark had been karting in Spain this year and although the facilities weren’t quite as good, we had a good laugh.

Lights, camera, action
I’ve been trying to find a way to publish video on the site but didn’t want to do so in Quicktime. The fact is that some of my mates just don’t know what Quicktime is and probably wouldn’t be able to install it. Since my digital camera takes Quicktime MOV files by default I had to find some software that would do the job. Luckily I found a demo of SwishVideo2 that does the job and converts into Flash video.
To integrate it into WordPress I needed to install FlvPlayer which is a plugin that creates a specific page where the videos will be shown. I’m not too sure if I like the idea of a seperate page for them as it won’t allow commenting etc on individual videos. It’s a workaround for the moment though and I’ve uploaded the infamous Amarillo video that was taken in Spain. Enjoy. 🙂
Closing off 2005
Well I suppose it’s high time I put up my 2005 “end of year” entry. Some people have commented on the fact that I put my life on this site but there will always be parts of it that I keep to myself. There are some things that I just will not comment on and I believe that’s the way it should be. Thankfully 2005 has been a great year. I did more travelling than I’ve ever done before, have become more social, went to more gigs etc etc. Everyone around me continues to be healthy and I’m thankful for all the friends I’ve met and those that continue to stick with me in 2006. A post with photos of the year will be along in the next couple of days. 😉 Have a good one.
Roisin’s 21st
Had great craic last night at Roisin’s 21st. It was a house party and was one of the funniest I’ve been to. I can’t go into too much detail as I’d embarass the main protagonists too much but I will say:
- Don’t buy too much Chinese food in. You’ll only end up giving it to the neighbours cat.
- Mixing drink concoctions is a bad idea. Although some of them tasted quite nice. 🙂
- Champagne should be handled carefully. Very carefully. 😆
Well done to Mark for doing the driving btw. I’ve uploaded a couple of photos from the night and also fixed a problem that Aido and Aishling highlighted with the photos page. It wasn’t opening any of the sub-pages due to the order of commands in the htaccess file.
