As a Man Utd fan of 21 years, all I’ve known is the managerial reign of Sir Alex Ferguson. He has overseen the most successful period in our club’s history and we owe him a debt of gratitude. The best ever? Probably.

I’ve been lucky enough to be present at Old Trafford a few times each year in the past three seasons. The last United game I saw him take charge of was the Liverpool game in January with the side winning 2-1. I was gutted when Eric Cantona, my favourite United player, left the club and have similar feelings today. Enjoy your retirement Sir Alex and thanks again.
