I’ve been at two gigs in the past week, Passenger in Vicar St and Alt-J in the Olympia. Both gigs were sell outs and the atmosphere was great….during album material. When they did cover versions or new tracks, there was a large proportion of the audience chatting. I don’t know if that’s something that’s become more pronounced in recent years but why would you pay cash money to talk through the act? In the case of the Passenger gig, he actually had to coach the crowd ahead of the quieter tracks. :-/
