I was in Manchester yesterday for what is generally considered the biggest fixture in our season, the match against Liverpool. They’re the two most successful clubs in England and the rivalry runs deep. To be honest, I haven’t experienced an atmosphere like it at Old Trafford before.
United went ahead with a Van Persie goal inside 20 minutes and should have added more before the break. Vidic bundled home a header after the break but Liverpool looked resilient and grabbed one back almost straight away. United seemed to be pegged back for the remainder of the game and Howard Webb didn’t do us any favours in bottling a few decisions. We got the result though (2-1) and the gap is still as it was to Man City. Thanks to Helen, a Liverpool fan, and great friend for coming along.
